AUSTRIAN ADVENTURE 2026

The Lech Valley in Austria has been the location for eight 1st Hexham summer camps since 1989. The scenery is stunning, the people friendly, the activities are just excellent. We keep going back because we haven't found anywhere better.

We plan to take two coaches so have space for 90 people including leaders. We will spend 9 days in resort and two days travelling. All our food is provided, we just need to cook it. We will have a large chalet to ourselves in the centre of Stanzach with easy access to shops and a sports field. All activities will be included in the cost and are likely to include white water rafting, shooting, swimming in the local pools, visit to Füssen, bowling, water adventure park, high ropes, cultural day out, Wally blitz mountain coaster, Imst mountain coaster, mountain walk.

We are hoping to travel with Abbotts of Leeming who have taken us on many of our adventures abroad and know us and the valley well. We will have use of the coaches in resort and can also travel on the local bus service for free.

Estimated cost at this time is £1100 - £1300 per person. It is hoped some fundraising can be coordinated across the district to reduce the costs for everyone.

To secure a place a deposit will be required once I have sufficient numbers if the deposit is not received by due date the place will be offered to others. We will be requiring payments in installments on set dates between late 2024 and March/April 2026. Missed payments may result in the place being offered to persons on the waiting list.

Any monies paid will only be refundable if a replacement participant is found. The budget is based on 90 travellers.

The trip is open to any Scout who will be aged 10½ to 14 on 29th July 2026.

The Scout Group was recently delighted to receive a £250.00 grant from the Hexham Rotary Club. We are using the donation to purchase another Inflatable Kayak & Bouyancy aid to add to our range of Watersports equipment. Apart from canoes the Group has also recently purchased 4 Paddle boards & 2 inflatable kayaks. These have been a tremendous hit with our young members who have made full use of them at Dilston Scout camp during this Summers term.

The photograph shows our Group Lead Volunteer Stuart Ford & Scouts from the Troop receiving the cheque from the Club President Mr Norman Wicks.

The Scout Group is in the process of purchasing equipment to set up our new air rifle & Pistol range which will operate in the main hall of the Lookwide Centre. Easily installed the range will allow six people to shoot at once. This doubles our capacity from the range currently in use in the garage. The Leaders will be undergoing training to enable them to instruct not only with air rifles, but Pistols which have recently been purchased. The photos show some of the new equipment we have purchased.
