Recent grants successfully obtained by our Group Lead Volunteer Stuat Ford have enabled the Group to purchase Watersports equipment including two inflatable Kayaks, Four Paddle boards, bouyancy aids & helmets. These have been put to good use at Dilston Scout camp recently at section meetings. The Beavers love their new kayaks as well as the Cubs & Scouts.

The Beavers, Cubs & Scouts have been taking full advantage of the Groups new watersports equipment with Paddle boarding & Kayaking being enjoyed down at Dilston Scout Camp during section meetings. We will shortly be adding to the equipment by purchasing another inflatable Kayak. The Group remains commited to ever improving our equipment to enable as many young poeople as possible to enjoy outdoor activities . Not a computer screen, TV or I pad to be seen here.

The Scout Group was recently delighted to receive a £250.00 grant from the Hexham Rotary Club. We are using the donation to purchase another Inflatable Kayak & Bouyancy aid to add to our range of Watersports equipment. Apart from canoes the Group has also recently purchased 4 Paddle boards & 2 inflatable kayaks. These have been a tremendous hit with our young members who have made full use of them at Dilston Scout camp during this Summers term.

Rob Copley (Haydon Bridge Group Lead Volunteer comments on a fantastic opportunity for our young people who took part in Project Challenger during the Easter holidays.

"1st Haydon Bridge and 1st Hexham made a great team to go and crew a 35 mtr ocean going racing yacht, a Challenger 72, off the South Coast this week. Some real wild weather, we were out in a force 7 but was excellent fun and the Scouts loved getting a soaking! "
