Group announcement - Click here
09/09/2021 By Stuart Ford

The announcement by The Scout Association of the new “Squirrel” section within the Scouting family has created a considerable level of interest and queries in the provision in Hexham.

This provision is initially limited to 200 groups and there is a process to be followed whereby the County Commissioner has to approve the work to explore opening Squirrels, the District Commissioners can then decide to explore this further with their Scout Groups. DCs will then meet with Group Scout Leaders, supported by their Squirrels Adviser, to discuss when the right time to get involved is and at what rate.

At this time this is out of our control as we haven’t as yet been approached by our District. If you are interested in Squirrels, then you can visit the Scout Association pages  to register your interest in this provision.

When we get the opportunity to discuss this with our District for taking it forward at 1st Hexham we shall, but it will still be dependent on additional adult volunteer support to open and run the section with the help and support of other adults in the group.

If you would like to add your child to our waiting list for any section, please do so here. We currently have a large waiting lists for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts so please consider whether you could volunteer a little time to help open a new section in one of these age ranges to reduce these. If you could let us know here, we will give you all the support you need.
