Everest Base Camp

In 2006, Scout Leaders & friends joined together to visit the kingdom of Nepal. 18 months of planning saw us visit this stunning country to trek to the base of the highest mountain in the world Mount Everest. The trek company we chose were KE adventure travel based in Keswick and following an initial enquiry the treking party soon added up to 13 people. Our route to Nepal was via Newcastle, Heathrow, Muscat & Kathmandu although due to low level cloud we were initially diverted to Dakar in Bangladesh.

Following arrival in Kathmandu were were transfered to the Shankar hotel, an oasis in the middle of the busy city & a former Royal palace. Here we could relax until we left for Kathmandu airport for the internal flight to the Hillary Tenzing airport at Lukla to start the 30 mile trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. The You tube video shows many photographs from our trek in this spectacular moutain terrain with the ultimate prize of reaching Everest Base Camp.
